Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how WordsLater ("we", "our", or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit wordslater.com or use our service. It describes what those technologies are, why we use them, and how you can control them. For information about how we handle the personal data we collect through cookies, see our Privacy Policy.

1. What is a cookie?
A "cookie" is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit it. Cookies let a site remember information about your visit - such as that you're signed in, or that you prefer a particular language - so that the next page you load doesn't have to start from scratch. Modern browsers also support similar technologies (local storage, session storage, and the IndexedDB API) that work the same way; in this policy, "cookies" refers to all of them.
Cookies are either:
- Session cookies - deleted automatically when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies - stored on your device until they expire or you clear them.
- First-party cookies - set by wordslater.com directly.
- Third-party cookies - set by a domain other than wordslater.com (for example, our payment processor when you're on a checkout page).
2. Categories we use
We only use cookies that fall into one of two categories:
- Strictly necessary - required for the site to function. Without them, you can't sign in, your session would be insecure, and core features would break. These do not require consent under EU and UK law.
- Functional - remember preferences that improve your experience but are not strictly required. We keep these to a minimum.
We do not use:
- Advertising or retargeting cookies.
- Cross-site tracking pixels.
- Social-media sharing cookies that profile you off-site.
- Any cookie that uses the contents of your scheduled messages.
3. Cookies we set
The cookies and similar storage items below are set directly by WordsLater. Exact names may vary slightly depending on your browser and session state.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
CFID, CFTOKEN, JSESSIONID |
Maintains your session with our application server so you stay signed in as you move between pages. | Strictly necessary | Session |
wl_auth |
Authentication token issued after you sign in. Lets us recognize you on subsequent requests. | Strictly necessary | Up to 30 days (or until sign-out) |
wl_remember |
Set only if you check "Remember me" at sign-in, so you don't have to enter your password each visit. | Functional | Up to 90 days |
wl_csrf |
Anti-forgery token that protects forms (sign-in, scheduling, payments) from cross-site request forgery attacks. | Strictly necessary | Session |
wl_tz |
Remembers your detected time zone so scheduled delivery times display correctly. | Functional | 1 year |
wl_cookie_ack |
Records that you have acknowledged the cookie notice, so we don't show it again. | Strictly necessary | 1 year |
4. Third-party cookies
Some pages embed services from trusted providers that may set their own cookies in your browser. We use these providers only where they are necessary to operate the service, and we limit them to specific pages where their functionality is required.
| Provider | Where | Purpose | More info |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Checkout and payment pages | Fraud prevention and payment session management. | Stripe cookie info |
| Cloudflare | All pages | Bot protection, DDoS mitigation, and routing of traffic to our origin servers. | Cloudflare cookie policy |
We do not control the cookies set by these providers. Please review their policies for full detail.
5. "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control
Most browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting, and some support the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Because we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies in the first place, there is nothing to opt out of in that respect; we treat all visitors the same way regardless of DNT or GPC.
Where applicable law (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act) requires us to honor a recognized opt-out signal, we do so for the categories of processing that signal covers.
6. How to manage cookies
You can control cookies through your browser at any time. The exact steps depend on your browser; the links below go to the relevant instructions:
If you block or delete the strictly necessary cookies above, you will not be able to sign in or use most of the Service. If you block functional cookies, the Service will still work but may forget your preferences.
You can also sign out from your account at any time, which clears the session and authentication cookies issued for that session.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service.
