Attach Anything That Matters
From a single scanned photo to a full archive of family history.
Photos & Images
JPG, PNG, HEIC, GIF, WebP - upload from your phone or computer. We preserve original resolution so photos still look right in 30 years.
PDFs & Documents
Letters, certificates, deeds, scanned handwritten notes, Word docs, slides - delivered exactly as you uploaded them.
Audio Files
Songs, voice memos, playlists, recorded interviews. MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC - all preserved at original quality.
Videos
Attach existing video files - home movies, old clips, digitized tapes. We also re-encode for future playback compatibility so the files still open decades from now.
Generous Per-Message Limits
Attach the files that belong with each message. Need to send a very large archive? Store it in your Vault and deliver it as a secure download link.
Direct Upload
Drag-and-drop from your computer, pick from your phone's camera roll, or import directly from Google Drive, Dropbox, and iCloud Photos.
Encrypted At Rest
Every file is encrypted with AES-256 and a per-message key the moment it lands on our servers. We can't read your files. See our privacy model.
Format Migration
As file formats evolve we migrate your files forward to current standards - so a 2026 HEIC photo still opens on a 2076 device.
Recipient Keeps Originals

Frequently Asked Questions
How big can a single attachment be?
WordsLater enforces reasonable per-file and per-message limits that are shown in the app when you upload. The limits cover the vast majority of personal messages. For very large files - long-form video, full photo archives, scanned document collections - upload to your Vault and we'll deliver a secure download link with your message.
What happens to attachments if a file format becomes obsolete?
We re-encode and migrate files forward as standards evolve. A 2026 HEIC photo or H.265 video will still open on devices decades from now.
How does the recipient receive attachments?
For email messages, small attachments embed directly. Larger files arrive as secure download links the recipient can preview in their browser or save to keep.
Are attachments encrypted?
Yes - AES-256 encryption with per-message keys. We never read or scan your files (except for routine malware safety scans on uploaded archives).
Can I add attachments to a message I already scheduled?
Yes. Any scheduled message can be edited - add or remove attachments anytime before its delivery date.
Will the recipient need any software to open my files?
Common formats (PDF, JPG, MP4, etc.) open in any modern browser. For less common formats we recommend pairing the attachment with a note explaining what it is.
Can I upload directly from cloud storage?
Yes - import directly from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and iCloud Photos without downloading to your device first.
What about really old photos - scans, negatives, prints?
Scan or photograph them at the highest resolution you can, then upload. We preserve originals byte-for-byte alongside optimized preview versions.
