The Long-Term Delivery Reserve
Why a $ 499 payment today funds delivery decades from now.
How $ 499 covers 75 years
A portion of every Lifetime Legacy purchase is reserved specifically to fund long-term storage, format migration, and future delivery. The reserve sits separately from our day-to-day operating budget. We can be honest about how the numbers work:
| Where your $ 499 goes | |
|---|---|
| Long-term delivery reserve (storage, migration, future delivery) | ~$300 |
| Operating & product (people, infrastructure, support) | ~$150 |
| Payment processing & taxes | ~$49 |
The reserve is sized so a typical Lifetime customer's messages can be stored and delivered comfortably within budget even if storage costs rise modestly or your account sits dormant for decades. We update these figures publicly as our infrastructure costs evolve.
Two hundred fifty messages. One payment. A lifetime.
30-day money-back guarantee. No subscriptions. No renewals.

Birthday letters, anniversary notes, "good luck" messages - they go out exactly when scheduled, time-zone aware to the recipient.
Posthumous messages release after verification
When the time comes, your trusted contacts verify your passing. After a 14-day waiting period, your posthumous messages begin delivering on whatever schedule you set. See the full process.
Lifetime Legacy vs Legacy
For people choosing between the two top tiers.
Legacy — $ 199
- 100 scheduled messages
- 50 photo + 10 document attachments included
- 20 voice recordings included
- 25 SMS messages included
- Up to 3 trusted contacts
- Posthumous delivery included
- Secure vault included
- Standard preservation queue
Lifetime Legacy — $ 499
- 250 scheduled messages (2.5× more)
- 200 photo + 50 document attachments included
- 50 voice recordings included (2.5× more)
- 25 HD video recordings included (Lifetime-only)
- 100 SMS messages (4× more)
- 10 USPS physical letters included (Lifetime-only)
- Up to 5 trusted contacts
- Posthumous delivery included

Both plans cover up to 75 years of digital delivery. The Legacy plan is the right choice if 100 messages is enough; Lifetime Legacy is for people building out a full archive of scheduled messages spanning decades.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is "$ 499 one-time" really one-time?
Yes. No subscription, no annual renewal, no upcharges to use any feature. You pay once and the plan is yours.
What does "up to 75 years" mean for delivery?
Digital messages (email, text, voice, video) can be scheduled to deliver any time in the next 75 years. Physical letters are capped at 30 years due to postage inflation and address changes.
What if I use all 250 messages?
Add additional digital messages at $ 2.99 each, or stack any other pack on top of Lifetime Legacy.
Can I get a refund?
Yes - within 30 days of purchase, as long as you haven't used any of the plan's credits yet. Refund yourself anytime from the Plans & Billing page in your account.
Why is Lifetime Legacy more expensive than Legacy?
2.5× the messages, far more included add-on credits (including video and USPS letters that Legacy doesn't include at all), two extra trusted contacts, and priority in our long-term preservation queue. For people building a substantial archive, it's a better unit cost than buying multiple Legacy packs.
What happens if WordsLater shuts down?
The long-term delivery reserve exists to insulate your messages from short-term business shocks. In the worst-case scenario we'd hand off your encrypted data and the reserve to a successor service to honor existing schedules. We'll publish the operational details of this plan as it matures.
Do my trusted contacts have to pay?
No. Being a trusted contact is always free for them. They get a simple dashboard to manage the role and nothing else.
Can I gift Lifetime Legacy?
Yes - gift purchases are available at checkout. The recipient gets a code, redeems it, and the full plan unlocks on their account.
